In conjunction with Marymount’s Founders Day – a time to reflect on the vision and values of the university’s founding order, the Religious of the Sacred Heart of Mary – the library offers a look back at the Big Sister/Little Sister orientation program of the 1950s and ʼ60s.
Back in Marymount’s early years, orientation involved pairing each freshman girl with a big sister, who would serve as mentor and guide to campus life.
An accompanying
Little Sisters Handbook provided information on what to bring, important campus events, places to see in the Washington region, and more.
Then, as now, Marymount was focused on making each student feel welcome and valued.
