Men’s Swimming Closes Out RMC Invitational in Sixth Place
Chesterfield, Va. – Marymount University’s men’s swimming team finished the Randolph-Macon Invitational in sixth place after the second day of competition on Saturday. The Saints earned 336 total points during the event.
On Saturday, the Saints opened with two scoring heats in the 200 medley relay. The team on Matt Essig, Will Bryan, Robert Klazynski and Tyler Hayes finished seventh while Matt Ward, Joseph Gardner, Joseph Paris and James Gibbons combined for a 13th place showing.
Klazynski, Gibbons and Paris then went 8-9 in the 100 butterfly before Essig and Collin Chartier posted third and sixth place finishes, respectively, in the 200 freestyle. Bryan and Gardner finished third and ninth in the 100 breastsroke before the team of Gardner, Chartier, Nguyen and Essig posted a seventh place finish in the 800 freestyle relay to close out the first session of the day.
In the evening session, Chartier kicked things off with a fourth place finish in the 1650 freestyle while Essig matched it with a fourth place finish in the 200 backstroke. Bryan and Gardner went 5-8 in the 200 breaststroke while the team of Gibbons, Gardner, Klazynski and Essig finished seventh in the 400 freestyle relay to close out the meet.
Marymount returns to action after the New Year as it takes on Catholic and Washington & Lee in a double-dual meet on January 18 in Washington, D.C.
