Women’s Soccer Falls at Goucher
Towson, Md. – Marymount University’s women’s soccer team dropped a tight 2-1 non-conference contest to Goucher on Tuesday night. The Saints struck first midway through the second half before the Gophers tallied a pair of late goals to pull away in the final 11 minutes of the game.
Paige Pierson continued to provide a scoring threat for MU (4-11), finding the back of the net in the 68th minute. The junior from Sterling, Va., dribbled through the right side of the defense before launching a left-footed shot past the GC keeper to take the 1-0 lead.
Goucher would respond at the 79:23 mark, knotting the game at one apiece as Shay Kettner put home a long shot after a self-contained dribble. The Gophers would put the game away in the 84th minute at Sisley Pumilia chipped a shot over the Marymount keeper after pass from Kettner set the stage for the score.
Gaby Prellezo tallied eight saves for the Saints in the loss.
Marymount returns to action on Thursday, October 28, in the season finale against Southern Virginia at Greenbrier Park.
