Four Women’s Volleyball Players Named All-CAC
York, Pa. – Four Marymount University women’s volleyball players earned All-Capital Athletic Conference honors, as announced by the league office on Wednesday. Senior Jenn Forbes was tabbed First Team All-CAC while seniors Michelle McCormick, Melissa Warren and sophomore Erin Allison garnered second team recognition.
Marymount’s four selections are the second most in program history. The Saints earned five All-CAC nods in 2005.
Forbes averaged 2.86 kills per set and hit at a .295 clip to go with 0.98 blocks a frame to lead the Saints in all three categories. She ranked second in the CAC in bps and kps as well as third overall in hitting percentage. On the season, Forbes was named CAC Player of the Week once and to the All-Tournament Team at the Catholic, Gallaudet, Neumann and Virginia Wesleyan tournaments.
McCormick led the Saints with 4.58 digs per set and ranked second in the CAC. She posted double-figure digs in 28 matches, including three with more than 30. McCormick set a career-high with 43 digs at Gallaudet along with 34 against Elizabethtown and 38 against St. Mary’s in the CAC Semifinals.
Warren paced MU with 6.97 assists per set while adding 1.76 digs and 0.35 blocks a frame. She ranked third in the CAC in assists despite playing in a 6-2 offense for part of the season. On the year, Warren notched six double-doubles.
Allison averaged 2.46 kills, 2.33 digs, 0.35 service aces and 0.33 blocks per set. She ranked fifth in the CAC in kills. On the year, Allison recorded five double-doubles and was named to the All-Tournament Team at the Catholic Invitational.
Marymount went 26-10 overall in 2012 and set a school record for single season wins. The Saints reached the finals of the CAC Tournament, their fourth time in program history.
