Arlington, Va. – Marymount University’s men’s and women’s cross country teams released their 2011 schedules, as announced by head coach Josh Merck on Thursday. The Saints will compete in five meets in preparation of the Capital Athletic Conference Championships and NCAA postseason.
“We’ve put together a competitive schedule this year that we believe we can produce results with,” Merck said. “There are a few meets on our schedule where we have an opportunity to take home a victory, especially since our team has experience on each course over the past two seasons.”
Opening up on September 1, MU travels to Kernstown Battlefield to take part in the Shenandoah Quint to kick off the season for the second-straight year. The Saints then travel to York, Pa., on September 17 for the York Invitational in a preview of the CAC Championships hosted by the Spartans.
Closing out the regular season with three meets in October, Marymount heads to Salisbury on October 1 before returning to Shenandoah two weeks later. The Saints then have their final tune-up before the postseason at the Hood Invitational in Frederick, Md., on October 22.
Looking to make a splash at the CAC Championships, the Saints return to York on October 29. Pending the outcome, MU would then take part in the NCAA Regionals in Seguin, Texas on November 12 and the NCAA National in Oshkosh, Wisc., on November 19.
