Women’s Lacrosse Takes Down Another CAC Foe
Arlington, Va. – Marymount University’s women’s lacrosse team added another Capital Athletic Conference win to their schedule, defeating visiting Hood 20-7 on Saturday evening.
The game was the final home contest for seniors Katie Dean, Susan Jung and Lori Renner, all of whom contributed on the offensive side of the ball. Renner logged a hat-trick with three goals, Jung scored twice and Dean chipped in a goal and an assists.
Tancy Weatherford and Lindsay Quinn led the Saints (5-8, 2-5 CAC) with four goals each while Stephanie Flood also had a hat-trick with three. Chelsea Ritter scored twice and Rachel Duff added a goal to round out the MU scoring.
Marymount led 2-0 early before the Blazers (4-10, 0-7 CAC) knotted things up with back-to-back goals eight minutes into the opening frame. The Saints took over from there, scoring eight unanswered goals and 14 of the next 15 scores.
Dean paced the Saints with three ground balls while Lindsay Bullock hauled in a team-best four draw controls.
Lourdes Lanzas and Erika Dommes combined in goal for 12 saves. Lanzas pulled in five in the first half en route to the victory while Dommes recorded seven in relief.
Kati Vu led Hood with three goals.
Marymount returns to action on Tuesday as it closes out the regular season at St. Mary’s (Md.). The Saints are still alive for a CAC Tournament berth with a win against the Seahawks.
