Women’s Cross Country Places Second at Hood
Frederick, Md. – Putting together its first team score of the season, Marymount University’s women’s cross country team finished second at the 2010 Blazer 5K on Saturday. The Saints were eked out by a mere three points by host Hood for the victory.
Marymount notched 39 points on the day in no small part to freshman Jessie Daley placing as the top finisher in the event. With her time of 20:39, Daley became the first Saint to win a race in program history.
Running in her first course of the season, fellow freshman Dana Mannarino finished fifth with a time of 23:07. Right behind her were Meryem Noucair and Megan McMinny, placing seventh and eighth, respectively, with times of 24:08 and 24:15.
Rounding out the Saints scores, Summer Penrose finished 18th at 26:31 while Rachael Raske was 23rd at 31:33.
Hood won the event with a score of 36, followed by Marymount with 39. Stevenson was third with 57 points while Southern Virginia rounded out the competition with a 78.
