Wednesday, January 02, 2013
Winchester, Va. – Marymount University’s women’s basketball team opened the New Year with a 53-42 victory at Shenandoah on Wednesday night. The Saints improve to 10-3 on the season and push their winning-streak to six-straight.

Katelyn Fischer led the Saints with a game-high 20 points to go with four steals and four assists. Tynisha Parks posted a double-double with 18 points and 11 rebounds while Miranda Krott led all players with 12 rebounds.

Shenandoah led by as many as seven early in the game before the Saints battled back to force four ties and two lead changes. The Hornets would eventually take a 26-21 lead into halftime.

Coming out of the break, the Saints dominated the second half and retook the lead courtesy of a 9-2 run throughout the first five minutes of the frame. Shenandoah would keep pace, including trading leads three more times, but a Parks jumper at the 10:47 mark sparked a 6-0 run and gave the Saints a lead they wouldn’t relinquish.

Marymount dominated the post, outscoring Shenandoah 26-16 in the paint and outrebounding the Hornets 40-22 on the day including 13-4 on the offensive glass.
