Fredericksburg, Va. – Marymount University’s women’s lacrosse team fell 24-13 to 13th-ranked rival Mary Washington in the First Round of the Capital Athletic Conference Tournament on Saturday afternoon. Saints senior Lindsay Quinn recorded her 100th career point for MU in the loss, becoming just the ninth player in program history to do so.
Eight different Saints (4-10) scored, led by two goals each by Taylor Johnson, Tancy Weatherford, Catherine Powell, Stephanie Flood and Chelsea Ritter. Quinn, Molly Maher and Rachel Duff all added lone goals as well.
Johnson, Weatherford and Megan McGuirk and each chipped in two assists with Powell and Quinn adding another each.
A back-and-forth beginning of the first half saw multiple ties and lead changes with the Saints leading 4-3 halfway though the frame after a Flood goal. Keeping things close, the Eagles (13-3) would score three unanswered goals to end the period and take a 10-6 lead going into the break.
Coming out of halftime, UMW matched Marymount’s comeback attempts and put the game away courtesy of a 4-0 run midway through the half.
Catherine Kennedy led the Eagles with 11 goals.
Marymount returns to action on Wednesday as it closes out the season in non-conference play against Bridgewater (Va.) at Long Bridge Park.
