Women’s Swimming Third After Opening Day at CAC Championships
St. Mary’s City, Md. – Marymount University’s women’s swimming team finished the first day of the Capital Athletic Conference Championships in third place with a team score of 116 through five events. The Saints trail Mary Washington and St. Mary’s (Md.) in first and second place, respectively.
Opening scoring in the 200 Freestyle Relay, the team of Anna Macedonia, Meghan Morch, Kim Rizzo and Katie Moran posted a 1:39.42 to finish second behind UMW. Macedonia kicked off the relay with her leg in 24.06 to break her own Marymount record in the 50 free by .02 seconds.
Katie Scott and Kelly Labriola kept the MU scoring going, placing sixth and 11th, respectively in the 500 Freestyle. Rizzo then followed suit with a fourth place finish in the 200 IM with a time of 2:13.91.
Macedonia and Moran finished first and third in the 50 free with times of 24.43 and 24.95, respectively. Morch added a seventh place finish in the event at 25.57.
Day two begins on Saturday with the preliminary heats at 10 a.m. and the finals at 6 p.m.
