Women’s Basketball Tabbed 18th in WBCA/USA TODAY Sports Preseason Poll
Arlington, Va. – Marymount University’s women’s basketball team was selected 18th in the USA TODAY Sports Division III Top 25 preseason poll, as announced by the Women’s Basketball Coaches Association on Tuesday. The Saints won the Capital Athletic Conference regular season and tournament titles a year ago, a league record 12th championship in program history, and made their 17th overall appearance in the NCAA Tournament.
Three games against a pair of teams in the preseason top-25 highlight Marymount’s schedule. The Saints host Montclair State, tied for fourth in the rankings, on December 15th and play a home-and-home series against CAC newcomer and sixth-ranked Christopher Newport on January 18th and February 22nd.
Marymount opens the 2013-14 season at home as it hosts the Pablo Coto Tip-Off Tournament from November 15-16th. The Saints battle Haverford in the opener before facing either Lynchburg or TCNJ in the final game of the event.
The USA TODAY Sports board of coaches is made up of nine head coaches at Division III institutions. All are members of the Women's Basketball Coaches Association (WBCA).
