York, Pa. – Marymount University junior guard Katelyn Fischer picked up her third Capital Athletic Conference Women’s Basketball Player of the Week accolade, as announced by the league office on Monday. She is the lone player to earn the league honor three times this season.
Fischer averaged 21.5 points, 3.0 rebounds, 3.0 assists and 2.5 steals per game to lead the Saints to a 2-0 record on the week and a six-game winning-streak. She played in all 40 minutes of both games, shooting 50 percent from the floor, 42.9% from three-point range and 88.9% from the free throw line.
Opening the week with a series sweep over Frostburg State, Fischer scored 25 points to go with three rebounds and a pair of steals. She went 7-for-13 from the floor and nailed 3-of-6 shots from downtown.
Helping Marymount avenge an earlier season loss to Stevenson to close out the regular season, Fischer scored 18 points to go with five assists, three steals and three boards. She converted 16-of-18 shots from the free throw line.
Closing out the regular season 13-12 overall and 10-6 in CAC action, the Saints have posted six consecutive seasons with at least 10 CAC wins and 17 years overall.
