Newport News, Va. – Six Marymount University student-athletes were named to the 2012 Virginia Sports Information Directors Association Academic All-State Team, as announced on Wednesday. Seniors Erik Kamta, Anna Macedonia, Rett Neiman, and Rachael Raske, along with juniors Katelyn Fischer and Nick Ryerson, collected the award for the Saints.
A total of 156 student-athletes from 26 Virginia colleges and universities earned the accolade. Each school was allowed to nominate six deserving student-athletes who were at least a sophomore and had a minimum of a 3.2 grade point average for the honor. The team includes all levels of college athletics in Virginia.
VaSID was formed in 1983, and is comprised of sports information professionals from NCAA Division I, II, III, NAIA and independent institutions from the state of Virginia. The purpose of the organization is to promote college athletics at all four-year institutions.
