Women’s Basketball Adds Katrina Reed to Staff
Arlington, Va. – Marymount University’s women’s basketball team added Katrina Reed as an assistant coach, as announced by head coach Ashlee Courter on Thursday. Reed comes to the Saints after a four-year stint at former Capital Athletic Conference rival Catholic.
“I am thrilled to add Coach Reed to our staff,” Courter said. “Her experience as a coach and player has made an immediate impact on our program. She is very familiar with our basketball program and is eager to continue our tradition of success on the court and in the classroom.”
Reed will be primarily responsible for guard development and recruiting duties in Virginia and New Jersey.
While at Catholic, Reed was a part of a Cardinal squad that made history with its first Landmark Conference Championship in 2012. That year, the team also reached the NCAA Tournament for the first time in the history of the program and helped coach a number of All-Conference and All-Region players.
Reed played collegiately at Elmira College, helping the Soaring Eagles to one of the best seasons in program history as a junior in 2006-07. The squad earned its first-ever Empire 8 Regular Season Championship, shattered the college's consecutive win streak with 13 wins and tallied the second most wins in the history of the program with 21. Reed went on to be named the Empire 8 Sportswoman of the Year in her senior season. In addition to her playing career, Reed also served as an assistant coach with the Elmira junior varsity program for two years.
A Chandler, Ariz., native, Reed earned her bachelor's degree in English with a concentration in journalism from Elmira in 2008 and her master's degree in secondary education from Catholic in 2012.
