Arlington, Va. – Marymount University’s men’s soccer team released its 2012 schedule, as announced by head coach Keith Moser on Thursday. The Saints begin play at their new home field at Long Bridge Park during the upcoming campaign.
Marymount kicks off the season with its traditional road tournaments to face a slew of in-state foes in back-to-back weekends. The Saints open against Eastern Mennonite and Hampden-Sydney at the Mary Washington Classic in Fredericksburg, Va., before taking on Virginia Wesleyan and Shenandoah a week later at the Marlin Classic in Virginia Beach.
In its first contest at Long Bridge Park, the Saints open Capital Athletic Conference play against St. Mary’s on September 15. The Saints also host a pair of rivals in Catholic and Mary Washington to Long Bridge to close out September, the latter as part of a Homecoming doubleheader with the women’s team.
Key non-conference matches include a four game road trek that pits the Blue and White against Southern Virginia, Methodist and Chowan. The Saints wrap up non-conference play against Gettysburg at home on October 17.
Marymount went 4-10-3 overall in 2011 and returns 12 letterwinners from last season.
