Frostburg, Md. – Marymount University’s women’s basketball team wrapped up the road portion of its regular season schedule with a 78-69 victory over Frostburg State on Wednesday night. With the win, the Saints even their record to 12-12 on the year and 9-6 in Capital Athletic Conference play.
Four Saints scored in double-figures led by Katelyn Fischer with a game-high 25 points. Jackie Bohenek, Dominique Dickens and Julie Tomesheski each added 13 while Tynisha Parks grabbed a game-high 14 rebounds.
Marymount took control down low, outrebounding the Bobcats and outscoring FSU 34-24 in the paint. The Saints also took advantage of 18 Frostburg State (5-19, 3-12 CAC) miscues to outscore their hosts 25-15 off turnovers.
A close first half saw five combined ties and lead changes before a late 18-0 run in the opening frame put the Saints up 30-14. Frostburg State wouldn’t let things get much more out of reach as MU eventually took a 35-25 lead into halftime.
The Saints would push their lead to as many as 15 in the second half before the Bobcats rallied to pull within two at 47-45 with 10 minutes to play. Marymount answered back with a 10-0 run to create a comfortable cushion for the win.
Elaina Hummel led the Bobcats with 18 points while Elizabeth Erickson added 17 and Stephanie Straka had 12. Erickson tallied a double-double with 13 boards.
