Fredericksburg, Va. – Marymount University’s women’s soccer team fell 5-0 to rival Mary Washington in Capital Athletic Conference action on Tuesday afternoon. The Saints fall to 4-6 overall and 0-3 in CAC competition.
An early barrage of shots by the Saints in the first half kept the host Eagles on their toes before UMW took the lead in the 19th minute. Five of Marymount’s six shots in the game came in the opening frame, including four in the first 13 minutes.
Coming out of halftime with a 1-0 lead, Mary Washington put the game away with three goals in a 10 minute span early in the second half. The Eagles would add another late goal in the win.
Goalkeeper Gaby Prellezo pulled in a pair of saves for the Saints in the loss.
Marymount returns to action on Friday at CAC foe Hood.
