Men’s Basketball Finishes Fourth at Marymount-Marine Corps Tip-Off Tournament
Arlington, Va. – Marymount University’s men’s basketball team finished in fourth place at the MU-Marine Corps Tip-Off Classic Tournament with a 62-54 loss to Brooklyn on Saturday. Freshman forward Reed Scott collected All-Tournament Team honors for the Saints.
Scott led all scorers against the Bulldogs (2-1) with 21 points and tied a game-high with seven rebounds. Bryan DeBruin added 14 points and seven boards on a perfect 6-of-6 shooting while Jonathan DeLao added 10 points off the bench.
The Saints (0-3) outshot their opponents for the second-straight game while coming up just shot. Marymount hit 47.9 percent from the floor compared to Brooklyn’s 41.7 percent but the Bulldogs nailed 45.5 percent of their three pointers compared to only 30 percent for the Saints.
Four Bulldogs scored in double figures, led by Ahmad Hemmingway’s 16. Tyshawn Russell added 14 en route to earning All-Tournament Team honors while Daniel Velasquez also had 14 and Steven Grant chipped in 10.
Marymount returns to action on Tuesday, November 23, on the road against Capital Athletic Conference rival Mary Washington in its league opener.
