Arlington, Va. – Marymount University’s volleyball team won its fifth-straight match 3-1 (25-13, 25-20, 24-26, 25-19) over visiting Shenandoah in non-conference action on Thursday. The Saints move to 10-14 on the season, already matching their win total from a year ago.
Jenn Forbes and Johanna Hummel came up big for the Saints, leading all players with 15 kills apiece. Christine Gallart added seven, Erin Allison had six and Emily Shultis chipped in five.
Impressive from the service line, Hummel pounded the Hornets for six service aces with four of them coming in the opening frame. Melissa Warren added four to go with a match-best 47 assists.
Defensively, Michelle McCormick led all players with 14 digs while Shultis notched five blocks in the front row. Marymount tallied 12 rejections as a team.
The Saints put together one of their best hitting performances of the season, nailing a .317 attack percentage in the match. Marymount hit .375 in two separate stanzas while Forbes was almost unstoppable at a .542 clip.
Playing in her final home match of her career, senior Amanda Dunn picked up a block and a dig off the bench.
Marymount returns to action on Saturday in a trimatch against Moravian and Lycoming on the road.
