Baltimore, Md. – Marymount University’s men’s basketball team fell 59-54 to host Johns Hopkins in the championship game of the Blue Jay Invitational on Thursday night. Brenden Cuyler and Jesse Konadu were named to the All-Tournament Team as the Saints drop to 4-9 overall on the season.

Rick Narcisse and Aaron Walsh paced MU with five rebounds while Narcisse added three steals and a pair of blocks. Walsh and Konadu both dished out a trio of assists.
An extremely tight first half saw 10 ties and eight lead changes before finishing up knotted 34-34 going into halftime. The Saints took advantage of eight Johns Hopkins (7-5) turnovers to convert them into 17 points while only giving up the ball five times in the frame.
After hitting the first shot coming out of the break, the Saints found themselves down seven at 48-41 with just under 10 minutes to play. Marymount then went on a 9-2 run over the next five minutes, capped by a Konadu three-pointer, to even the score at 50-50. Johns Hopkins would respond with a three of its own and hold off the Saints at the free throw line down the stretch to escape with the victory.
Aleksandar Nikolic led the Blue Jays with 16 points off the bench. He earned tournament MVP honors.
