Women’s Volleyball Duo Named All-CAC
York, Pa. – Marymount University women’s volleyball standouts Morgan McAlpin and Erin Allison were named All-Capital Athletic Conference, as announced by the league office on Tuesday. McAlpin garnered first team All-CAC recognition while Allison was tabbed second team All-CAC for the second-straight season.
Allison is the first Marymount player to repeat as an All-CAC performer since 2006 while McAlpin is the 12th first team All-CAC selection for the Saints in program history.
McAlpin led the Saints with 2.74 kills per set and hit at a .278 clip on the season. She added 76 total blocks and 31 service aces. On the year, McAlpin was fourth overall in hitting percentage and fifth overall in kills and kills per set. She was also seventh in total blocks and 10th in blocks per set. In conference only matches, McAlpin was third in kills, fourth in kps and hitting, 13th in total blocks and 14th in bps.
Allison was not far behind her teammate with 2.46 kps while adding 2.91 digs a frame and 49 service aces. On the year, she ranked fifth overall in service aces, seventh in total kills with 288, ninth in digs with 340 and 13th in both kps and dps. In conference only matches, Allison was seventh in aces, 11th in digs and dps, 13th in kills and 16th in kps.
Marymount is 19-14 on the year, 5-3 in league play, and made an appearance in the CAC Semifinals before falling to eventual champion Christopher Newport. The Saints earned a bid to the ECAC Southwest Championships and look to clinch their ninth 20-win season in program history.
