Women’s Lacrosse Tops Notre Dame (Md.)
Baltimore, Md. – Marymount University’s women’s lacrosse team defeated Notre Dame (Md.) 18-3 in non-conference action on Wednesday afternoon. The Saints even their record to 1-1 on the season with the win.
Junior Lindsay Quinn paced the Saints with eight goals on the day while freshmen Chelsea Ritter and Rachel Duff added hat-tricks with three goals each. Freshman Jane Park added a pair of goals while senior Susan Jung and Tancy Weatherford both scored as well. Senior Lori Renner and freshman Lindsay Bullock chipped in three assists apiece as Jung, Duff, Park and Ritter each contributed assists as well.
Defensively, sophomore Lourdes Lanzas and freshman Erika Dommes split time in goal, earning a save each. Quinn picked up a team-high five ground balls while Ritter forced four caused turnovers.
Bullock led the way with four draw controls as Flood and Ritter added three each.
The Saints jumped on the board early with a goal by Jung just over a minute into the game. Quinn then added four consecutive goals over the next seven minutes to put Marymount up 5-0.
Marymount would close out the opening frame by a 4-3 scoring margin to take a 9-3 advantage into halftime.
Coming out of the break, the Saints hit nine-straight unanswered points in the second half to put the game away.
Marymount returns to action on Saturday at Bridgewater (Va.) at 1 p.m.
