Frederick, Md. – Marymount University’s women’s basketball team defeated Hood 73-52 in Capital Athletic Conference action on Saturday afternoon. With the win, the Saints clinch at least fourth place in the league standings and seal hosting duties for the first round of the CAC Tournament.
Katelyn Fischer posted her third-straight double-double with a game-high 22 points and 12 assists. Tynisha Parks added 13 points off the bench and Sam Spencer chipped in 12.
Marymount (11-12, 8-6 CAC) opened the game on a 7-0 run and quickly led by double-figures 12-2 at the 14:19 mark. The Saints would push their advantage to as many as 21 in the frame before taking a 37-18 lead into halftime.
Coming out of the break, MU continued to roll and lead by as many as 30 with five minutes to play before finishing out the 21-point victory.
Dyanna Prater led the Blazers (6-17, 2-13 CAC) with 17 points while Emily Maerz and Rachel Wiley both chipped in 12. Wiley also posted a double-double with 10 rebounds.
Marymount returns to action on Wednesday at CAC foe Frostburg State.
