Hampden-Sydney, Va. – Marymount University’s men’s soccer team dropped another overtime thriller, 3-2 in double OT at non-conference foe Hampden-Sydney. The overtime game was the fifth for the Saints in 11 games this season.
Scoring early, Dannish Decardi-Nelson put the Saints (2-6-3) on the board quickly with an unassisted strike in the seventh minute. The Tigers (7-5) would respond at the 23:19 mark, evening the score and taking a 1-1 tie into halftime.
Coming out of the break, HSC took its first lead of the game in the 52nd minute before Freddy Bonilla knotted things back up in the 76th minute, scoring off a rebound save from Decardi-Nelson for the assist.
After a scoreless first overtime, Hampden-Sydney put the game away 3:10 in the second OT frame to seal the victory.
Daniel Keefe collected six saves in goal for the Saints in the loss.
Marymount returns to action on Wednesday at Capital Athletic Conference foe Hood.
