Women’s Cross Country Posts Three Top-10 Finishes at Hood Invitational; Men Claim Two Top-15 Showings
Frederick, Md. – Marymount University’s women’s cross country team posted three top-10 finishers at the Hood Invitational on Saturday while the men’s team claimed a pair of top-15 performers. As a team, the women finished third overall while the men placed fourth.
Freshman Melissa Teeple continued her impressive freshman season by winning her second consecutive individual race with a time of 23:59.2. She has not finished worse than second the entire season after a 12th place showing in her collegiate debut.
Teammates Elizabeth Long and Payton Bodecker battled down the stretch, finishing fifth and seventh, respectively. Long finished with a time of 25:00.4, just over 10 seconds before Bodecker crossed the finish line.
Closing out the Saints scoring, Charlotte Knopf finished 25th, Katie Maloney was 26th, Jessica Butler placed 30th and Clara Churchill rounding thing out in 33rd place.
On the men’s side, Collin Chartier finished eighth overall with a time of 28:36.1 while Carlos Elizondo was 14th in 29:14.1. Kevin Farmer placed 26th, followed by Joseph Kenny in 29th and Lavelle Perry in 30th.
Marymount returns to action next Saturday as it takes part in the Capital Athletic Conference Championships, hosted by Salisbury on November 2.
