Women’s Volleyball Sweeps Former CAC Foe
Arlington, Va. – Marymount University’s women’s volleyball team swept visiting Hood 3-0 (25-12, 25-12, 25-16) in its regular season home finale on Friday night. The Saints move to 22-7 overall on the year.
Jenn Forbes led the Saints with a match-high 11 digs at a solid .391 hitting percentage while Emily Shultis added nine at a .368 clip. No Marymount player committed more than two attack errors on the night.
Johanna Hummel and Morgan McAlpin both logged five kills while Courtny Carroll and Melissa Warren added three each. Warren posted a double-double for MU with 20 assists and 11 digs.
Defensively, Michelle McCormick collected 18 digs while Forbes had five blocks.
McCormick also led all players with five service aces.
The Saints outhit the Blazers (6-17) by a wide margin, .302 to 0.12 on the night. Marymount hit over .300 in the opening two frames while holding Hood to a high of .032 in any set, including a negative attack percentage in the first stanza.
Marymount returns to action with a road tri-match on Saturday. The Saints take on host Lycoming in Williamsport, Pa., at 1 p.m. before facing Moravian at 3 p.m.
