Women’s Lacrosse Falls in CAC Tournament
St. Mary’s City, Md. – Marymount University’s fifth-seeded women’s lacrosse team fell 17-7 to fourth-seed St. Mary’s (Md.) in the first round of the Capital Athletic Conference Tournament on Tuesday afternoon. The Saints wrap up the season 7-8 overall for their most wins since 2008.
Molly Maher and Taylor Johnson led the Saints with two goals each. Stephanie Keane, Stephanie Flood and Summerlin Meredith all scored lone goals as well.
Chelsea Ritter added a pair of assists with Keane chipping in another.
Maher paced the Saints with six draw controls and four caused turnovers. Five different MU players had at least two ground balls with Kelly Smigen leading the way with three.
All three Marymount goalkeepers saw action in the game with Kiki Niebuhr collecting five saves and Tylar Abrams adding three.
Daniella Hanacek led St. Mary’s with four goals.
