Women's Lacrosse Falls in CAC Tournament
The Saints ended their season in the Capital Athletic Conference tournament quarterfinals, falling on the road to St. Mary's College, 17-10.
After tying the game in the fourth minute of the game, the Saints fell behind, 6-1 with 13:20 left in the opening period. Two goals by Stephanie Flood pulled MU to within 6-3 at the intermission.
St. Mary's scored two of the first three goals of the second half to lead 8-4 with just under 26 minutes to play. Then the Saints scored three consecutive goals -- two by Sara Horne and a third by Lindsay Quinn to pull to within one goal, 8-7.
The two teams alternated goals two more times so when Horne scored for the Saints with 15:30 to go in the game, the Seahawks led, 10-9. SMC finished the game scoring seven of the last eight goals to produce the seven-goal advantage in the first round game.
Stephanie Flood led the Saints with four goals. Sara Horne added three goals and also won eight draw controls. Lindsay Quinn finished with two goals. Ashley Dodge recorded 11 saves and five ground balls.
St. Mary's improved to 8-7 on the season will advances to the conference semi-finals. Maggie Macleay and Aubrey Mirkin each tallied four goals for the Seahawks.
The Saints end their season with a record of 3-11. Senior Sara Horne played her last game for Marymount and will leave her mark on the MU record books. She finished her career with 108 goals (4th all time), 30 assists (tied for 7th all time) and 138 points (5th all time). She also had 210 career ground balls (3rd all time) and 113 draw controls (4th all time).
Ashley Dodge also ended her career at MU. She completed two years in the nets and had 319 saves, good for third all time at Marymount.
