Women’s Volleyball Ties Program Record with 25th Win
Elizabethtown, Pa. – Marymount University’s women’s volleyball team tied a program record with its 25th victory of the season after a pair of wins at a non-conference tri-match on Saturday. The Saints opened the day with a 3-1 (20-25, 25-21, 25-22, 25-18) win over host Elizabethtown before defeating Farleigh Dickenson-Florham 3-0 (25-16, 25-8, 25-11) to tie to program mark set in 1997.
Four Saints (25-9) logged double-figure kills against Elizabethtown (20-11). Erin Allison led the way with a match-high 13 kills while Emily Shultis added 12 and both Jenn Forbes and Johanna Hummel chipped in 10 apiece.
Melissa Warren paced the offense with 38 assists and 12 digs.
Defensively, Michelle McCormick recorded an impressive 34 digs while Cassidie Watson added 15 and Courtny Carroll had 10. Morgan McAlpin earned six blocks at the net while Forbes and Hummel both rejected four Elizabethtown attacks.
Against Florham (4-21), Forbes led the Saints with 10 kills while McAlpin added eight and Hummel had seven.
Carroll and Watson both collected eight digs while Forbes had five blocks.
Marymount returns to action on Thursday as it hosts the semifinals of the Capital Athletic Conference Tournament. The Saints take on the winner of the St. Mary’s (Md.) and York (Pa.) First Round match on Tuesday.
