Frederick, Md. – Marymount University’s women’s lacrosse team picked up another Capital Athletic Conference win with a 22-8 victory on the road at Hood on Saturday afternoon. The Saints move to 3-6 overall on the season and even their league record to 2-2.
Eight different Saints scored in the win led by Megan McGuirk with a game-high six goals. Tancy Weatherford and Taylor Johnson both added four while Stephanie Flood, Chelsea Ritter and Molly Maher all added a pair. Lindsay Quinn and Catherine Powell both scored for the Blue and White as well.
Rachel Duff added a pair of assists for the Saints.
Marymount opened the game with three quick goals in as many minutes before Hood (2-11, 0-4 CAC) put its first tally on the board at the 26:34 mark. The Saints would go on to outscore their hosts 6-1 over the next 15 minutes to go up 9-2 before eventually taking a 12-5 lead into halftime.
Trading a pair of goals early in the second, Marymount put the game away courtesy of seven unanswered goals over a 14 minute stretch in the frame.
Cecilia Pasquale led the Saints defense with five caused turnovers while Maher forced four. The pair also recorded a team-high five ground balls each.
In goal, Lourdes Lanzas hauled in 11 saves between the pipes for the win.
Kati Vu led the Blazers with three goals.
Marymount returns to action on Wednesday as it hosts CAC foe York (Pa.) at Long Bridge Park.
