Men’s Soccer Earns Hard-Fought Draw at Virginia Wesleyan
Virginia Beach, Va. – Marymount University’s men’s soccer team played to a 2-2 draw against host Virginia Wesleyan in the opening game of the Marlin Invitational on Friday night. The Saints move to 0-1-2 on the season.
Jorge Alvarado and Max Bazinger both netted goals for the Saints as they earned their second tie of the year. Dajuan Spriggs added an assist on Alvarado’s goal.
Down 1-0 after the first half, Marymount took the lead with the back-to-back goals in 52nd and 71st minutes. The Saints would then allow a late goal by the Marlins before holding off their hosts in OT to preserve the draw.
Isaac Arington and Travis Walke both scored for Virginia Wesleyan.
Marymount returns to action on Saturday as it closes out play in the tournament against Shenandoah.
