Arlington, Va. – Marymount University’s women’s lacrosse team fell 10-7 to visiting Washington & Jefferson in its home opener on Saturday afternoon at Long Bridge Park. The Saints fall to 0-3 on the season.
Tancy Weatherford, Stephanie Flood and Taylor Johnson all tallied a pair of goals for the Saints while Molly Maher added one as well. Weatherford and Maher also earned an assist each along with Lindsay Bullock and Megan McGuirk.
Cecilia Pasquale led MU with four caused turnovers and four ground balls on the day. Rebecca Durkin added four ground balls as well while Flood, Maher and Catherine Powell each collected three.
After trading goals to start the game, W&J (2-0) pushed to a 5-1 advantage before taking a 6-3 lead into halftime. The Saints would battle back, eventually pulling within two goals on multiple occasions but couldn’t get any closer than a pair.
In goal, Kiki Niebuhr and Lourdes Lanzas split time between the pipes and collected four saves each.
Brittany Fradkin led the Presidents with three goals.
Marymount returns to action on Sunday as it hosts Sweet Briar at 2 p.m. at Long Bridge Park.
