Men’s Soccer Earns First CAC Win
Arlington, Va. – Marymount University’s men’s soccer team defeated visiting Wesley College 3-2 in Capital Athletic Conference action on Wednesday night. The Saints snapped a four-game winless streak and picked up their first CAC victory of the season.
Kjell Crooke led Marymount (3-6-1, 1-2-1 CAC) with a pair of goals on the day. He put the Saints on the board early in the fifth minute, collecting a pass from Cherif Moktefi through the Wolverines defense to give MU a quick 1-0 lead.
Wesley (3-6-1, 1-2-0 CAC) responded in the 22nd minute to tie the game at 1-1 with a goal on a free kick by Kyle Long. The Wolverines would then take the lead at the 37:46 mark as Long added another goal off a free kick set piece.
Wasting no time, the Saints responded in full a mere 25 second later. Philippe Millogo gathered a pass from Edwin Rivera on the ensuing kick-off and took advantage of the unsuspecting Wesley defense to knot things up at 2-2.
After a hard-fought second half, Crooke would add the game-winner in the 84th minute. Streaking down the left side, he took a pass from Millogo and beat the keeper far post to break open the draw.
Marymount returns to action on Saturday, October 2, on the road at Ferrum at 7 p.m.
