Women’s Lacrosse Falls at #10 York
York, Pa. – Marymount University’s women’s lacrosse team dropped a 22-4 decision at 10th-ranked York (Pa.) in Capital Athletic Conference action on Friday afternoon. The Saints fall to 5-3 overall and even their league record to 1-1.
Chelsea Ritter, Stephanie Flood, Taylor Johnson and Jacki Belker each scored for the Saints. Ritter added an assist for the Blue and White.
Ritter and Maher both led Marymount with five ground balls each. Stephanie Keane and Ritter were both also credited with two caused turnovers.
In goal, Kiki Niebuhr (5-3) hauled in 12 saves while playing just over a half between the pipes.
Marymount kept pace with the 10th-ranked Spartans (8-2, 2-0 CAC) through the opening eight minutes of play. Falling behind 2-0, the Saints responded with two of the next three goals to make it a 3-2 game at the 23:12 mark. York would take it from there, scoring nine unanswered goals to take a double-digit lead before back-to-back goals from Johnson and Ritter late in the half put MU back on the board.
Leah Schultz led York with six goals.
Marymount returns to action on Wednesday as it travels to face second-ranked Salisbury in CAC play.
