Marymount Swimming Volunteers at Nadar Por Vida

Wednesday, February 09, 2011
Arlington, Va. – Marymount University’s men’s and women’s swimming teams took a break from training recently to volunteer a Saturday at Nadar Por Vida in Northern Virginia. The Saints helped the staff at the local program for underprivileged and minority youths and donated Marymount swim caps to each participant.

“It was great to be able to help out Arthur Lopez and Nadar Por Vida,” Marymount head coach Mike Clark said. “Both our student-athletes and the children in the program got a lot out of the experience. It’s also especially rewarding to know that many of our swimmers are planning on returning to volunteer on their own time in the future.”

Nadar Por Vida, or “Swim for Life”, is an organization founded to teach swimming to underprivileged youths in Northern Virginia. The primary goal is to serve low income and minority populations where competitive swimming and water safety is not a prominent emphasis in the current culture.
