Join Dr. Eric Norton, instructor in the Literature, Language, and the Humanities Department, for a lecture on Sophia Little’s 1854 temperance novel, The Reveille
. His research looks at temperance novels in cultural context. The Reveille
is a story about alcohol, gossip, spying, cross-dressing, bottle smashing, mob violence, women’s rights, homemaking husbands, and greedy capitalists out to seduce the sober.
Refreshments will be provided.
