2013 Life After Study Abroad Conference: The Career Benefits of Study Abroad

Sat, Oct 12, 2013, 12:30 PM - 6:30 PM

Location: Ballston Center

Marymount students who have completed a study abroad program are invited to the 2013 Life After Study Abroad Conference: The Career Benefits of Study Abroad. The purpose of this annual conference of DC-area colleges and universities is to enable study abroad alumni to think critically about how their experience has influenced them as future professionals.

Through a series of dynamic panel discussions and workshops, conference participants will be prompted to identify and articulate the specific intercultural skills and knowledge gained from study abroad, and learn how to communicate their transferable value as essential to the professional demands of today’s rapidly globalizing economy.

In addition, participants can opt to have their resumes reviewed to ensure that they effectively highlight their international experiences as well as the intercultural competencies gained. Graduate school programs and long-term volunteer opportunities abroad will also be explored.

The conference will end with a networking reception, where MU students can meet fellow study abroad alumni from colleges and universities in the capital region.

Registration is $10. For the conference schedule, list of workshops and speakers, and to register, visit lifeafterstudyabroad2013.eventbrite.com.

This event is sponsored by Marymount’s Center for Career Services, the Center for Global Education, and the Washington Area Study Abroad Network.
