Yolanda Barbier Gibson, BA '04
Yolanda became Marymount’s director of Alumni Relations in June 2012. In this position, she oversees the planning and implementation of all alumni programs, events, and services.
Previously, Yolanda served as director of the student success team at the Community College of the District of Columbia. Earlier, she was director of Campus and Community Relations at Northern Virginia Community College's Alexandria Campus.
After receiving her B.A. in communication from Marymount, Yolanda went on to earn her M.A. in Community College Teaching at George Mason University. She is now pursuing doctoral studies in Higher Education Administration at George Mason.
During her years as an MU student, Yolanda was an Admissions Ambassador, a leader in the Black Student Alliance, a cheerleader, and a member of the Activities Programming Board. Since graduating, she has remained active with Marymount; in 2008, she received the university' Alumni Club Leadership Award in recognition of her work as a member of the Alumni Association Board and the Black Alumni Network.
She says, "I'm so happy to be back at Marymount! I welcome the opportunity to help my fellow alumni forge stronger connections with our university - connections that can continue to benefit them throughout their lives. I also want to emphasize what a difference actively involved alumni can make. Together, we can build a strong legacy of involvement and support that will benefit Marymount University students and alumni for generations to come!"
Suzanne has worked at Marymount since 2010. She coordinates a wide range of Alumni and Development events for the university.
Before joining MU, Suzanne worked at the City Club of Washington, DC, as the assistant director of Private Events. A graduate of Marshall University in West Virginia, she holds a B.A. in Child Development.
Suzanne says, "I enjoy working at Marymount for many resasons, but mostly because of our close-knit community."
Alumni Relations Coordinator
Krista joined Marymount in February 2013 and is excited to be part of the campus community. Her responsibilities include serving as the coordinator for the Saints Being Saints volunteer program and helping to plan and implement the university's young alumni programs.
Previously, Krista served as the program assistant and registrar for the Episcopal Diocese of Spokane in Spokane, WA. She earned her B.S. in Organizational Communication at the University of Portland.
Krista observes, "As a relative newcomer to Marymount, I am really enjoying getting ot know our alumni. I look forward to meeting many more at upcoming events!"
Alumni Relations Associate
Katie as been a member of Marymount's Alumni Relations staff since October 2007, and formerly served as alumni relations coordinator. In her current role, she is responsible for managing the alumni web presence.
Before coming to Marymount, Katie served as the marketing coordinator and office assistant at Giffin Interior & Fixture, Inc., in Bridgeville, PA. She holds a B.A. in Public Relations/Advertising from Penn State University and earned a certificate in Information Technology at Marymount in 2011.
Katie notes, "My favorite part of my job is hearing stories from our alumni about their time at Marymount. Each of our alumni has played a part in shaping Marymount's unique history, and I love to hear the memories of their years on campus."
