France conjures images of the Eiffel Tower, fashion, good food, and art. French is the official language of 29 countries and history books are full of French leaders, artists, and fighters. In the latter part of 2008, France has been active in international politics through their holding of the European Union (EU) Presidency and the active policies of their President, Nicolas Sarkozy.

Within the EU, Paris is a major center of business and politics and the headquarters of many multinational companies. Paris is a very diverse city that has an active population with regards to labor and human rights.

Students are expected to take at least one 3-credit language course, if English is not the first language of the country they are visiting. Some of the France programs require two to four university-level semesters of French before departure.
