Brazil

Recognized worldwide for its soccer stars, samba, and beautiful beaches, Brazil today has emerged as a political and economic leader in Latin America and the rest of the world. Brazil encompasses one-half of South America’s land area, is home to one-half of South America’s total population, and is the world’s third largest democracy. As a nation of contrast, diversity, and rich cultural heritage, Brazil offers a study abroad experience unlike any other. Known for their warm and welcoming nature, Brazilians are experts in enjoying life to the fullest and celebrating the diverse influences that shape their history and culture.

Keep in mind – this is the southern hemisphere, so their academic year runs from February to November; our winter is their summer, and vice versa!

A majority of programs offered in Latin America require two to four university-level Spanish and/or Portuguese language classes. In addition, students are expected to take at least one 3-credit language course, if English is not the first language of the country they are visiting.
