Humanities

Application to this program is suspended as of September 2011. Marymount is excited to announce a forthcoming revision to the Master of Arts in Literature and Language that will feature interdisciplinary study in the humanities. We encourage prospective students interested in this opportunity to contact the Office of Graduate Admissions.

Are you interested in literature, culture, history, art history, philosophy, and comparative religious studies? Do you want to immerse yourself in the resources of a world-class city?

Graduate study in literature, linguistics, and the humanities enhances historical and ethical consciousness, fosters clear and critical thinking, and hones writing skills.

Marymount's new program will prepare you for further academic work or enhance your professional development in areas like teaching, research, writing, public outreach, and editorial or curatorial work.

Because this developing program offers the opportunity to take courses from a variety of disciplines in addition to literary study – including philosophy, art history, history, linguistics, and comparative religion – you can explore the complexities of the human condition from multiple perspectives.

To accommodate the schedules of working students, all graduate courses are offered during late afternoon and evening hours. At Marymount University, you will benefit from individual attention from highly qualified faculty; a collaborative atmosphere in seminar-style classes; and an intellectual environment enriched by events in the metropolitan area and high-profile campus speakers.

Visit this site for updates as this forthcoming program continues development.
