Fashion Design
Marymount is the only Washington, DC-area university offering Fashion Design and Fashion Merchandising programs, and its graduates set the trend for young designers in the region.
In their curriculum, Marymount designers have opportunities to think outside the box and to address the needs of varying target markets.
Prepare for the Fashion Industry
Marymount Fashion Design students are prepared to enter the industry to work for apparel manufacturers and for apparel retailers in the area of product development. The curriculum combines design thinking with expertise in textiles, quality standards, pattern making, illustration, and garment construction. MU students regularly compete in – and win – national and international design competitions.
Portfolio in Motion Student Fashion Show
The University’s annual Portfolio in Motion fashion show is a highlight of each academic year. This event showcases student designs and brings a Designer of the Year – an industry luminary, like Michael Kors or Carolina Herrera – to campus to critique student work and give one-on-one portfolio feedback. This unique experience provides Marymount Fashion students with an unparalleled learning opportunity.
