Fieldwork & Student Teaching

Students complete their field experience hours at schools during the week, at times that are convenient and meet the needs of their schedule. Marymount's Department of Education Office of Clincial Experiences has partner schools in the greater Washington metropolitan area, including Reston/Herndon and Northern Virginia. Placements at these partner schools will help students satisfy field-hour and student-teaching requirements.

The student-teaching internship is 14 weeks, Monday through Friday in the last spring semester of the program. Students are placed in a variety of school settings including public, private, Catholic, or independent schools in the greater Washington, DC area. Student teachers may request the county in which he or she wants to student teach.

Students in the Professional Studies program complete a capstone project under the guidance of a full-time faculty member, typically the chair of the Education Department.
