The Gomatos Reading Room houses rare books. The primary use of the room is for quiet study and contemplation. The room is available to the students, faculty, staff, and administration of Marymount University as a quiet study room and occasionally as a meeting space.
The collection of rare books is locked behind glass cabinets. Access to the collection is by appointment only, Monday through Friday, from 9 a.m. – 5 p.m., with the exception of University holidays. Appointments may be scheduled by calling the circulation desk at (703) 284-1533.
When the Gomatos Reading Room is not reserved for special collection access or meetings, currently enrolled Marymount students, faculty, and staff may use this room for quiet study. The room is available during the library’s normal operating hours.
The Gomatos Reading Room may be reserved for meetings by faculty, staff, and administrators of Marymount University. Room reservations can be made by contacting the Dean’s office at (703) 284-1673 or at LLSDeansOffice@marymount.edu
The room is a climate controlled environment which must be kept below 68 degrees and below 50% relative humidity. Users are not permitted to adjust the temperature and humidity controls or to leave the door open. Food and drinks are prohibited.
