Internship Preparation

Marymount students begin to prepare for the undergraduate internship experience in DSC 101 First-Year Seminar, when they explore their career interests.

In the sophomore year, students attend orientation sessions, sponsored by the Center for Career Services and engage in discussions with their advisors about their personal goals for the internship.

In the junior year, students prepare a résumé and identify specific internship locations that interest them.

Finally, in late junior or early senior year, students participate in an internship experience, student teaching placement, or a nursing practicum.

Goals for the internship are to
  • apply course-based material to real-world situations
  • expand the ability to communicate effectively
  • develop professional identity
  • adhere to appropriate standards of behavior in a professional setting
