Residence Hall Reapplication

Please Read Very Carefully

All assignments will be made by logging in to the StarRez Housing Portal. To log into the portal go to my.marymount.edu. On the left hand side, enter your student user name (this is your email address without @marymount.edu at the end) and password. Click “LOGIN”. On the next page, you will see a series of icons on the upper left corner of the page. Click on the StarRez icon. You will then be taken to the housing portal.

Now that you’ve lived in the residence halls for at least a semester, what have you done? How many of the more than 100 social and educational programs have you participated in? Have you taken advantage of the countless opportunities to meet new people and make new friends? Now it’s time for a new semester, and a new beginning. Are you ready to take advantage of even more of these opportunities in the upcoming year?

By reapplying to live in residential housing, you have the opportunity to take advantage of all that is available to our residents. Living on campus comes with easy access to classes, professors, and on-campus services, not to mention free cable television, free wireless and wired internet, free laundry, and so much more!

To reapply, all you have to do is sign-up at the designated time. Remember to pay special attention to the dates and times as they relate to your housing preferences.

How Do I Reapply?

Step 1: Register with the Housing Portal. (February 29 - March 4)

There are three parts to registration: register, select your same room, and apply for special interest communities. These are described below.

A.    Register 

To log into the housing portal, go to my.marymount.edu. On the left hand side, enter your student user name (this is your email address without @marymount.edu at the end) and password. Click “LOGIN”. On the next page, you will see a series of icons on the upper left. Click on the StarRez icon. You will then be taken to the housing portal. Once on the portal, you will provide a variety of information including your emergency contact and housing preferences. B.    Select Your Same Room (if desired)

During the registration process, you will also have the opportunity to select to return to your same room. Note: Rising Sophomores do not have this option. Please see your RA to determine if you are displaced or click here.

C.     Apply for a Special Interest Community (if desired)

Students who wish to live in Ostapenko, Women of Faith, or MU Global Thinkers must complete a special interest community application. Applications are available during the registration process and must be submitted no later than 4 p.m. March 4 for consideration.

Step 2: Select your roommates (March 14-15)

Roommate Formation allows you to select between 0-4 roommates, forming a total group of 1-5 (including yourself).  Please be aware that most of our residential spaces have double occupancy, thus will not be able to accommodate a group larger than two. 

To select your roommates, log in to the StarRez Housing Portal as described above and click “Housing Application”. Select your term (Academic Year 2016-17). You will then see the “Roommate Profile Screen”. In this screen you may add a description of yourself that others will see. Click “Save & Continue”.

You will now see the “Roommate Formation” screen where you are able to select your roommates. You have two options, Create a New Group or Add Yourself to a Group. Directions for both are below.

Create a New Group

This option allows you to be a group leader. As group leader, it is your responsibility to share the group name and password with those you wish to select within your group. 

In order to create a group you will select "Create a new group." You will then be promoted to create a group name and password. Please take note of this information as it will be your responsibility, as group leader, to share the group's name and password with those you wish to be within your group. You are allowed to share your group name and password with any eligible student, however StarRez will only accept up to five total students per group.

Add Yourself to a Group 

You will select this if your preferred roommate has already established a group and provided you with the group name and password. Select “Add Yourself to a Group”. Enter the group name and password in the appropriate fields and select “Save & Continue.” 

Special Interest Communities

Please note you will only be allowed to form groups with those within your same “Special-Interest Community.” For example if you are approved to live in Ostapenko you can only form groups with others accepted into Ostapenko. 

Step 3: Select your room (March 17 – March 24)

Use the Reapplication Schedule or ask your RA for your room selection time. Appear in person at the appropriate time and location to review available rooms and select your home for the 2016-17 academic year. Please remember to bring photo ID.
